camel gallery
I've been living in Bahrain since September 2005, and to be honest I haven't found it to be the most inspiring place to paint. When I first arrived I had several portrait commissions to keep me busy, and I started teaching quite early on, which I love... But it wasn't until I started meeting camels on my walks in the desert that I found my new muse.
Camels are great.
Camels are much maligned. They aren't nasty and they've never spit at me. They have delightfully smug and superior expressions. No ego problems. High self esteem. They are sweet to their children and have the longest eye lashes in the animal kingdom. Great lips too. They delight me.
Arabic text is also very beautiful. Even if you don't know what it means, it looks good. I've learned a few phrases and have incorporated them in some of the paintings...If you'd like to see more camels, please click on the images below.
I've been painting in acrylic with collage, with a special interest in layers and textures, very different from my watercolour work. I feel like I'm at the beginning of something here...
